Paused

I'm down and out for a few days! 1 becuase I'm a little sick, 2 because my shins are killing me....I went to Dr and had xrays done b/c she didn't like how I was describing the swelling while I run so we shall see. I have another appointment in two weeks to find out about the xrays and my blood work. So I'm on a pause for a few days!

Keeping it going

I'm still writing here! I love the fact that Chris started this blog and I'm the one who's writing hahaha The run felt okay today...I can feel that I'm getting stronger. Shins still hurt but it was tolerable today. After the run, I decided to head to Sports Authority to find some inserts or something that will help more. I ask someone for help, he says sure I'll be right back.....20 minutes later I"m still wondering around the shoe section waiting to be helped! F them I say!!! When someone finally came to help me I said Ive been waiting 20 minutes now I find that very rude and no you can't help me. So I left! Screw that crap. I went to Sports Chalet and immediately I was helped. Cute little Asian chick too haha She measured my arch and watched me jog a little, gave me some inserts that she thought would help based on how I ran and what I told her. They were a little expensive but price isn't an issue when I'm in pain. Bought some ice packs too so I'm not using bags of peas and corn haha So when all is said and done, I have new inserts which feel great, a new Camelback and some ice packs so I am ready for tomorrow. I'll let you know how the inserts work. I feel good.

Ouch!

So still running and still smoke free for 9 days now!! The only issue is I have severe shin pain when I run. It effects me to where I have to stop running to relieve pressure in my shins hahaha Chris and I went to Sports Authority yesterday and I bought two braces that helps to relieve shin splints. Well it kinda worked today but I guess I had them to tight because I almost fell when my legs had no feeling. Had to stop and loosen them up then I was able to proceed. I'm still coming in between 10:30 - 11 minutes a mile which isn't great but I'm way out of shape and dealing with massive shin pain. Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated. I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor soon to get my yearly psychical and see what she says about my shins. Chris and I are going to start doing a longer warm up tomorrow to see if that might help relieve my pain.....we shall see.

Jude's first post!

So I guess I'm going to pop the cherry here and be the first one to post! Chris tried and failed a few days ago and hasn't tried since haha Well it's now Thursday 7/21 and it's our third day of running as well as my third day of being smoke free :-) Day one of running was a nightmare for me. Chris was fine! I couldn't breathe and was really kicking myself in the ass for smoking haha We actually forgot to time ourselves but I'd say day one was over 15 minutes for me to finish 1 mile. Thats not very good. Chris was waiting for me at the finish line. Day two I was better than day 1 but still not that great. We actually timed ourselves this time and I clocked in at an amazing 11:17 for 1 mile and chris clocked in at 9:01. Today (Day 3) because we rested our legs yesterday, was good but could of been a lot better. The smart guy that I am I came home from work today and decided to eat a little breakfast. A little breakfast turned into a full breakfast burrito. Needless to say that wasn't the smartest idea I had and while running I wanted to hack it back up. That slowed me down but apparently not as much as I thought because I clocked in at 10:46 and Chris came in at 8:41. So little by little we are getting better. One step closer to our goal of running the LA Marathon next year!
